Radio Play Alone will not garner record sales the combination of radio or video play, personal appearances, press coverage (reviews, previews of shows), website presence, and especially fan base maintenance and regular contact will improve your chances.

Below are recommendations we pass on to artists on our catalogue:

Helping Us Help You - Sell More Records

  • Tour dates please email performance dates to the SRD office every month. The sales reps in each area are given copies and endeavor to advise the record stores of shows in their area. Reps are also encouraged to attend live shows and meet the artists.
  • Press Clippings please forward new reviews or articles written about you and your music. They can be accepted as a scanned file or as a clean, hard copy made from the original. Very often we copy these on to the back of the release sheet to show the stores there is publicity around the artist.
  • Links to the Spirit River website the link info and logo to use from your site to ours is available on our home page. Please code the link so it goes directly to the image and bio of your CD on our site. We in turn provide a link to your site from the CD page on ours.
  • Inform radio and print media of our contact information in case they receive calls from the public on where to find your CDs. Include your distribution company in your list of contacts (along with management, booking, publicist ) on press releases, & posters etc.
  • Announce on stage that your CDs are available in the stores and to say If you can t find our CD in your favorite record store call Spirit River Distribution. Our toll free number for customers only is: 877-773-4787.
  • CDs you sell at your shows should not be dramatically cheaper than they are priced in the stores. The word will spread and fewer people will buy at the store. Some stores in smaller locations are reluctant to stock independent CDs for this reason.
